I have Thule crossbars and towers on a Ford Explorer. Easy on and off, and solid as a rock.

Yakima stackers on the factory car top rack for my Nissan Xterra. No problems in three years except that I need a step stool for loading. Of course, that may be to my being "vertically challenged".
