Ray, the canoe I am building from plans also shows a would be gap in the middle part of the hull. The plans for my canoe are metric but the distance seems correct for a hull that size. Do check with CLC if your concern remains. I believe that is part of S/G building, getting flat panels to bend into a curved hull. Best RogerJ
