Well Mac Dad's ship, an old flush deck, four stacker, got blown aground on Adak Island in the Aluetians in 1944. The storm generated 140 knot winds, honest, I read that in a book on U.S. Naval History. Two sea going tugs, a battleship anchor with hawsers to both for' and aft capstans, and two bulldozers with pallets against thier blades (to shield the hull) took two and a half days to "walk" her off the beach. A nervous time was had by all. RogerJ
