Craig,

I have some modified 14s for my wife, myself and a friend. All have higher sheer panels and wider bottom panels. Even then, they're a bit cramped for leg/foot room and are used only for short paddles on protected water.

One idea that may be at least as lucrative as selling an unfinished kit would be to donate the boat as is to a local boat-building for young people program. Many of the maritime museums and boat-building schools run them, as do some high and trade schools. Check Wooden Boat magazine for names.

Or, finish the boat and donate it to a non-profit youth camp. An accountant may be able to advise you on how much you could deduct for this essentially new boat donation.

Or donate the boat to me: most days I feel like a non-profit organization.
