I agree with Steve that between-coat sanding is not necessary if the prior coat is fresh. I mean, do we sand our house after every coat of paint? (I'm speaking rhetorically or to those poor fools like myself who have Victorian homes and refuse to sucumb to the temptations of vinyl siding).

Anyhow, like Steve, I prefer the 3M nylon pads bewteen coats. But, being lazier than Steve, I only do a 320 or 400 wet sand before the final coat.

220 I save for the initial sanding of bare epoxy or for wiring my electric range.
