I found that the bronze nails were not required although I put them in anyway as I like the look. However, I found that they couldn't hold the deck down enough. I used lots of rope and tiedowns and managed to achieve no gap joins. Sounds like you have the sheer clamp problem solved. If you are painting the hull, cable ties work well for stitching. I have used this method with some high school students. They stitched the panels together very quickly.If you are going to use wire you could try steel if you can't source copper. Just remember to pull them out after you have epoxy stitched and before final filleting Cheers
