hybrid deck

Mw's WR18 and Kurts Cormorant have really got me going as far as hybrids go. I plan on building one early next year to add to my fleet (1xCH17). i have a stripping question: Do I need to use a sheers strip or can I just run strips along the axis leaving the ends overhangin to be trimmed off much like a ply deck? I appreciate that I will be exposing the endgrain buta rubrail should fix that. This method would seem much quicker, not having to fit each end to a sheers strip. Thoughts and comments anybody.
