Thank's Robert,
I thought of you as I wrote this and asked myself if I dare submit such a weeny event on this forum. Then I figured that folk would generally face an event more like mine than your's (hopefully). What I learned is that kayaks are deceptively manuverable but can get quite heavy, and it doesn't take much current to create problems. I'm glad I didn't have to bail out, as I wasn't wearing a helmet, and I wouldn't have enjoyed meeting up with the dozen or so submerged boulders I encountered downstream.
After seeing how well my kayak survived my little event, I can't imagine what it would take to bust her into 11 disconnected pieces.
You're one lucky dude, son!
