Ray,
I've just finished repainting a cobalt blue hull to get rid of a summer's worth of wear and tear.
I'm now convinced that redoing a bright hull would have been soooo much easier.
I had white primed (two part poly) the hull prior to three coats of two part blue. Of course every minor scratch showed as a white line - emphasizing a scratch which probably wouldn't have even been noticable on a varnished hull and could have been refinished very easily.
I agree with Craig that the hull can be painted later should you choose. The reverse is virtually impossible.
