small boat to fish from

Looking to make something that I can take the kids (2.5 & 4) for rides around the neighborhood small lake. Would also like to be able to fish from.

Due to funds and knowledge, I'm thinking the Sassafras 16 or Eastport Pram.

Any comments greatly appreciated. I started a small skiff this weekend out of wood laying around my garage...and I'm not too happy with it, even though I only have $30 in it...
