Pity we can't find a better buckle than the fasteck. They're just not the right buckle for hatches, and are a pain to use in cold weather. I have to refit the deck rigging on an old LT 16, and I may try putting the buckles off to the side of the hatches to see if they can be tightened more easily there.

SS D rings or cam buckles may work better, but they may have to be sewn on.

I've also had some luck making the hatch seals out of scrap minicell foam, carved to match the hatch radius.
