Re: Leaking hatch seals

I've been experimenting with o-ring rubber to help seal my deck hatches.
Here in Australia, o-ring rubber can be purchased by the metre(yard), and I glued it to the hatch rim using super-glue (cyanoacrylate based glue). When I tried to remove the o-ring, bond was that strong that the rubber tore away from itself, leaving me with quite a job to remove the remaining rubber.
However, I don't beleive the super glue will stand up to a lot of water. My plans are to use epoxy to provide the long term adhesive solution, once I am happy with it.
My o-ring was about 1/4" diameter, but on one hatch this didn't seal well, so I am replacing it with some 1/8", hoping it will require less pressure to seal against the foam.
This is still very much a idea in progress
