Tom, I think you want to do at least a light overall sanding between coats simply to get some "tooth" for the subsequent coats. No dust in the finish??? You must have no pets, kids, ot foot traffic in your varnish area. On my next to last coat of varnish, everything was pristine. Then a small dragonfly flew into the garage and lit in the still wet coat. Parts of him are still there. ;)
