One of the problems using fastek buckles is that in order for the hatch to seal well the buckles have to be on TIGHT. IT's not possible to buckle THEN tighten as one would do on a backback which is what fasteck buckles were originally designed for. It requires substantial hand strength to snap them together with maximum tension using two hands, thumbs on one side and fingers on the other squeezing them together. Do you have the 1/4"x4mm reinforcement ring that stands high on the hatch hole? Some people have added half round dowels on the hatch to increase the down force. Is the hatch gasket a continuous band with no gaps where the ends meet?
