Homer,

I accumulate so many of those each season that I just give them a light sanding and slap on some epoxy to seal it. Then, after the paddling season is over, I sand down and refinish the whole outside of the boat and start all over again next season.

If I tried to blend each new one in when it happened, I'd be spending all my time finishing instead of paddling, so I guess I wouldn't accumulate scratches, so I wouldn't have to fix them and I'd have time to go paddling, but then I'd accumulate scratches and I'd spend so much time refinishing .... AHHHH! I'm stuck in a loop! :-)
