Ray,

I am surprised at this group. No one gave you the correct advise which is: Mail your plans and materials to me and go buy a fiberglass boat. This boat building thing is an addiction that will haunt you for life. Don't ever start. You will never again feel complete unless there is a boat in the garage to work on and you will fall to sleep every night rereading a chapter in The New Kayak Shop. Run as fast as you can to the nearest kayak dealer. Now, while you still have a life.

The first boat you build will certainly have some anxious moments and will be the inspiration for building another that is faster, prettier, lighter, a SOF, a stripper, or whateveer. But the first is also the most fun. I found the problem solving to be the most rewarding. It is amazing what you can do when you have to.

You have been warned.
