...that's what I did, Terry. ;) I used Tremclad Rust Paint (Rustoleum in the old USA), two coats done one after the other as soon as the first coat was tacky to the touch. The paint smoothed out naturally and adheres to the epoxy as if it was just another layer of epoxy. After two years I have scratched and dented the paint horibly. I touch up the paint each spring and it looks great. I used no primer, just painted on top of the epoxy after a light sanding with 120 grit whatever I had at hand. What didn't get paint got varnish. Search through the link below to see some of my kayaks and the paint they got. Oh yeah, the paint suffers through heat and cold to both extremes and still keeps on sticking.
