Undercoating

I'm going to go with the Pettit Easypoxy undercoater, and I have a question to throw out to the forum. The directions call for preparing the surface with a fiberglass dewaxer (their brand, of course.) I used the MAS no-blush epoxy, and I don't believe this step is necessary. I plan on giving the boat a good green pad scrub with ammonia and water before finishing.
