silvertip blush warning

Posted by DaveW on Aug 29, 2004

Just thought I'd give folks a warning that the System 3 Silvertip epoxy might blush if the humidity is exceptionally high. I did some epoxy work yesterday afternoon with temperatures in the upper 80s and humidity over 90%. These are unusual conditions and are prime conditions for formation of blush. When I went to put the second fill coat on this morning the epoxy looked a bit milky and the fill coat would not adhere. The standard blush treatment (scrub with water and a scotchbrite pad, rinse, dry) took care of the problem. Just thought folks who haven't run into blush before, and who aren't expecting to see it in a product that is marketed as blush-free, might appreciate a heads up.
