One factor of a kayak is not often discussed. Whether or not you can relax in it while at rest. I call it the "bicycle factor". You can't ever get your mind away from the fact that you're in a tippy hull. On a long pull being able to totally relax now and then is very important. Unfortunately, the only way to know for sure is to put your backside into the boats in question. I paddled a Chessy 16 and found it big and boxey but would chose it for long trips in unknown waters.
