Paint in bulkhead area

The parts in the front and back of the yak - the bulkheads - I was planning to paint so they are bright when hatch opens. I don't care if the inside is glass-like finished - any problem with just applying the Interlux paint directly too a lightly sanded epoxy surface - without doing much prep? Is it that simple, or is more prep recommended - even if it won't really be seen.
