kayak in the rain

I have to move my in progress ch17 out of a barn to my yard. The deck is not yet fiberglassed. The hull is glassed. Will I cause any damage by just putting the kayak on horses and covering with a tarp? We're expecting thunderstorms here in the NE. Should I use a special type of tarp or will any do. I hope to glass it outside on Monday when the weather improves.
