Instead of worrying about the weight of the lift, why not lift less far? You could look at one of the trailers on the CLC web site. With their 2 kayak trailer, you only need to lift one end of the boat onto the trailer at a time, to about waist height, then walk to the other end of the boat and do the same for that end. If you were a really good son, you could buy one of the 2 wheel carts and go right from the trailer onto the cart.
