Are you making fun of me? Just kidding. Not sure what pirogue means in French, but "bateau" is boat in French. In south LA, the locals call my canoes and kayaks pirogues. Generally, any small paddle boat is called a pirogue and small motor boats are called bateaus. Yeah, I've eaten my share of "pirogues". They're generally stuffed with a mixture of bread crumbs, crab, shrimp and tasso.
