I glass all my combings. They can take a beating and just epoxying them has never seemed to be adequate.
It's pretty easy if you cut the glass in small, pie-shaped pieces, arrange them around the combing and then epoxy. When the first fill coat is fairly hard, you can scrap down the high spots with the carbide scraper. Might be able to use a long piece of bias-cut cloth instead, but I never tried it.
