STICH & GLUE/SOF HYBRID

Thought you might like to see how far the stich & glue technique can be pushed when combined with Skin-on frame techniques.

Mikes boat begain as a S&G Sequine. He cut down the gunwals and narrowed the boat. Then he installed ply bulkheads followed by a traditional skin-on-frame knee brace and deck beams and stringers topped of with a fabric deck adhered to the hull with Aqua Seal.

The result is a kayak that is 18"x17' and weighs less than 35 lbs. He carries it to the water under his arm as if its a surfboard.

Needless to say rolling is not a problem.
