I'm sure you knew this going into the surf but for others it's worth reinforcing that long sea kayaks are NOT surf kayaks. Timeing the launch to not have a wave dump on you and drive you backwards is complemented with timing landings to ride in on the back of the smallest wave once the surf gets to the level where side-surfing the smallest break is at your limit,,since side surfing is where you'll be most of the time when a wave breaks on the stern of a sharp edged long boat.
