So essentially what I was talking about, was instead of doing a scarf at the bow- (and I am building from plans) I would run the piece full length from the bow to the cockpit and have two butt joints per side instead of one- The idea being to keep the grain, etc. on the bow. If building from a kit it would throw every thing off but I am cutting my own ply so I can put the cockpit in the correct position. The coaming is going to be strengthening that area onyway and there is not a whole lot of camber in that narrow area...
