An undergraduate naval architecture student could easily calclulate the answer to this question--one I have had myself off and on for years--but in the meantime, I guess the answer is 'no'. If the answer were 'yes', then hydrofoils would have become common decades ago for small, low power, light displacement vessels, correct?
