Allan, I had the same problem, and felt the same way regarding the look of the extreme front deck of the CH17. What I ended up doing was using two table clamps spread from edge to edge across the front bow section of deck where it flattened out. As I nailed the deck I added the clamps when the nails where about 3 feet shy of the flattened front area. Just a little tightening was needed to create and continue the deck arch. This arch carried through to the tip. I�m not sure if this method would be useful if securing the deck with just rope or duct tape and forgoing the nails.
