Hull Stitching on Ches 18
Posted by Karl on Jul 1, 2004
Hello Everyone.
I am building my first boat, a ches 18 from Kit. I plan to paint the hull and cockpit. Then I plan to varnish the deck. I am currently on the Stitching the hull phase.
Here is my problem. I have put a spacer board at the sheer of the boat to spread the Beam to 24 1/2 inches from side to side (including the sheer clamps.)
I have just begun stitching at the bow working my way to the stern. I have only stitched in 4 on the starboard and port sides. By looking at this, it appears I will have to do alot of pulling to attach the two hulls. Before I continue, am I doing something wrong, or is this normal?
Thanks.
