Dave, how exciting! I say run up to that bouy and lean 'er over with 2" of deck in the water and rudder the hell out of her, with an exponential reverse sweep creeping in to full force. Sure you'll pretty much stop, but a good honking will have her "planing" once again. I'm thinking hug the bouy so close that you have it all to yourself, but at any rate see a reverse sweep as part of the action.

I have ZERO experience in racing, and will love to hear how I am shot down by those who have! This triathlon lets you paddle instead of swim, I take it...
