turning radius

I just launched the 17 Lt and must say I love it. The stability vs. the SportTandem is welcome. I am in a triathalon Sunday which the boating leg is 1.5 miles out, around a buoy, and back. The question is what the min. turn radius is, with an aggressive lean so that I have 2 inches of the deck in the water I feel I have maxed out that dept. I do an exagerated sweep on the outside and a quick dab on the inside and it seems it takes about 20 seconds to bring it around. I am glad that I didn't install a rudder as this is the only time I can forseee using one. In a race situation there may be many boats approaching the buoy simultaneously which will make for a moment of apprehension. If I don't seee any boats close over my shoulder, I plan on being about 30 feet to the right of the buoy and then put it on edge. A little sooner if it all clear. I'll get back to you on Sunday, waves vs. flat etc.(Lake Champlain, Vt.)I like this boat so much I may build my wife a 16 LT.
