Re: double kayak question

I own the Triple, same hull, different deck. The boat is NOT suitable for single paddling. I tried it once on a small lake with no wind. About 100 yards was all it took for me to say "No, Thanks!". It is way too big to maneuver, and will be greatly affected by breezes.

The boat performs best when loads are over 300 or 350 pounds. For instance, last night, I took my 9, 8, and 4 year olds out in the Triple (the 8 and 4 year olds shared athe center cockpit) on a sheltered bay. Total crew weight was 320, plus 25 pounds of water ballast in the front compartment, plus 15 pounds of gear. The boat was rock solid in a cross breeze and did not weathercock. That is the application for which the boat was designed.
