The Eider would be a good next choice for a do-all lover volume double sea kayak that an adult could paddle alone with a child,,,that's what it was designed for. I've paddled a 17'x26" glass Prijon Double and an 18.5'x30" Northwest double, once you start getting into long tandems you're getting into boats designed for two adult paddlers simply because of the leverage a long boat puts on one set of arms when the wind picks up above 5mph. If you go for the ST check out a Sealine double rudder and configure the aft transom for a mounting plate so you could configure a deeper rudder than the top mount Feathercraft rudder.
