I tried yellow pigment in a little tube for gel coat repairs and it was translucent like you describe. The white pigment from West Systems or MAS appears to be better for use with epoxy,,or it's simply easier to make opaque. It came in a 4oz container like a cream cheese tub, thick paste, not really squeezable.
