Thanks for the link to the thread. I looked back to see if the question had been asked before, but didn't go back far enough.
I've admired the Skerry since it came out. Clearly, it's a tougher build than a kayak - I've done three - but patient people with simple tools built lots of pretty complex things before CNC machines came along.
Regarding the cost, here's the rub for me - my budget director/wife has proven to be more receptive to a new boat if the cost comes in small doses, rather than all at once. Besides, I have probably half the necessary materials already stacked in the garage.
