Wade, whatever you do it will squirm and try to move a bit until you have enough epoxy on it. If you want to go as high as the sheers you can pin or tack it there, tape the tops of your sheer clamps tho'. I think the idea is to epoxy the deck to the wood of the sheers. (feel free to correct me if I err) You can try for the undersides of the sheer clamps too ( I got some large air bubbles I had to cut out and re-epoxy, may not be worth the effort) I am building a 15' decked sailing canoe, the stresses will I expect differ from a paddle only kayak, I am less concerned about weight on this build anyway.
