Tony,

Thanks for the tip. I have decided to try what you did. I still have centerline marks on the hatch pieces I cut out, so I hope that will help me keep things aligned.

When you say you cut some kerfs, does that mean you put cuts in the hatch stiffener (probably the foremost one, I suspect) and then bent and glued that corner again?

Your kayak looks great. I cannot finish my hull bright like yours, unfortunately, because I sanded into the infamous "black ick" in a few spots.
