Lean

Scott, I have been enjoying my first season in my new West River 180 and I love it. Granted I can not turn this boat on a dime, but it is very similar to other kayaks of this length and hull speed. When it comes to boat design one of the things I am most interested in is speed and this boat is speedy, I find the trade offs are worth it to me(speed & tracking vs. handling). I have setup my cockpit with good hip and thigh braces that fit me well. When I want to turn, I just lean and balance on the great secondary stablity of this hull, and paddle, it comes right around. Good luck, just takes a little practice.
