I can't believe the NorthBay could be mentioned in this thread without the AH getting some ink (er, pixels). You get an exceptional boat (best kit out there) which tracks and turns and is relatively fast. Just yesterday I was out with a buddy in his CD Extreme and a wing paddle and he went for sprint. He is an experienced racer in a 19 foot boat and with a racing paddle. I in my AH with a greenland stick in my hands. Well, I had to work pretty hard but I stayed with him for quite a ways. I couldn't have kept it up in a real race but if I was in race shape, maybe. His comment was that my boat was fast.

There is plenty of room for a weeks worth of gear for camping. This hull will turn better than the other boats mentioned (with the possible exception of the NB). There is no way I would select the Pax as an all around boat - that would be a dedicated flatwater racing boat.
