I built a rudder block out of a chunk of mahogany. I drilled two holes near the bottom outer edges BEFORE epoxying it to the kyak. I intend to run a line through these holes to which I will attatch a grab handle. The line will be long enough to clear the tip of the rudder and held tight to the deck with a bungy that will be part of my perimeter deck line. That was my solution, so far so good. Will be ready to try it out in about two weeks.
