Kurt,

One of the items you convinced me to buy are stainless steel cabinet scrapers. They do what this chisel technique does over a larger area with little chance of boo boos. They also work great to prepare the old varnish for recoating, and remove drips like a carbide scraper - which could also be used on the old silicone?

Bill - you're on the right track. What will tou use instead of silicone this time?
