Hatch Covers

Is it just me or are the plans super vague? Ive tried making the proper measurements in order to find a centerline but so far each one i draw is way off. Im wondering if I should just line the hatches up on the full size plans and mark where the frames are attached. What have you guys done? And how exact does it need to be?
