Ready to glue again

Posted by Bill Cabeceiras on May 15, 2004

Looks like I am about ready to attempt gluing again. I ended up using a heat gun to separate the joints. After roughly a minute of heating both sides they peeled apart nicely. Of course I didn't figure this out until I slightly mangled one with the saw...fixable though. Once they were apart I attempted sanding, but that started to get a little dicey, and did not seem to be doing a great job. So, I broke out the heat gun again. I found that heating the glue while lightly and vigorously scraping with a razor blade nicely cleaned me down to bare wood. I have also pre-drilled all the holes in the wood where I will be clamping. Thanks for all your ideas. Wish me luck, Bill
