Re: Rowing conversion?

Read "Rowing to Lattitude" a great book for kayakers and rowers both. The Author is a neighbor and friend here. Doug, her husband, switched from paddling a single kayak to rowing a double kayak from shoulder problems and not being able to keep up with her. They row modified Necky Tofino or Arluk doubles with "Rowwing" drop in riggers. One single cockpit, splash rails around it, sides glassed in with dry hatches to minimize how much water it would hole in very rough conditions. Haul lots of gear, cover many miles at faster than two people can paddle a double. I going to build a double sized hull with a long narrow cockpit with storage in the sides of the cockpit very similar to theirs. Haven't decided whether to try a sliding seat or sliding rigger set up Randy
