Webbing for hatches

I have a CLC 16, 1 1/2 years old and it has been driving me nuts trying to keep my hatches dry. I have changed the gaskets with different foam and they still leaked. Last week I was trying to do rolls in a pool and I kept having to drain my kayak and found the webbing holding the hatches were stretching. I found out it ws polypro and just changed them to nylon. I tightened them poured water on them and they stretched too. Help!! I would appreciate any suggestions
