Sitka Spruce - Marine Lumber

Sitka spruce (Picea sitchensis) is famous for very high strength, thanks to its long, straight grain.  It is still widely used for building aircraft.  In boatbuilding it is most likely to be seen in spars of all kinds.  Sitka spruce isn't ultra-light, but it IS enormously strong for its weight.  CLC uses this sitka spruce for most of our spar kits.
