This is one of those "anything is possible" answers. Purists will tell you that you need the $40/qt Interlux which is pretty good paint and holds up well. I used Benjamin Moore oil based porch paint for the interior of my dory and it is also holding up well, at about a third the cost. Never used it on the exterior but wouldn't be against it if the boat wasnt going to sit in the water for extended period. how about a test? Paint up a piece of wood and float it in a bucket, see how long it lasts.
