Lining up the stern endform

Stern EndformHey Everyone,

Not sure if the picture inserted correctly, but I'll give it a shot. So, I've installed the endforms on the stern with the inner stem taped on top. Somehow, though, there's a pretty big gap between the bevel on the last from and the bevel on the endform--something like .25". Is it supposed to be like this? It doesn't look right to me, and seems like it will be hard to get the strips on correctly.

If it's not right, what can do to get to line up better? I was thinking about planing the top of the endform underneath the inner stem. Any other ideas?

As always, thanks for your help.
